Description of coin 2 rubles 1756:

From 1756 to 1779 were issued gold coins of non-standard denominations - poltina, rouble, and 2 roubles. They had a limited circulation among government officials, and was also used for overseas payments. The circumference of the front and back sides, a rim consisting of teeth.

On the obverse is a portrait of Elizabeth I, in profile, face to the right. In a circle the inscription - "Б•М•ЕЛИСАВЕТЪ•I•IМП:ИСАМОД:ВСЕРОС:"(stands for "the grace of God Elizabeth I Empress and autocrat of all Russias").

The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Russian Empire of second half XVIII century: the double-headed eagle with the lifted wings, crowned by two Imperial crowns, above the same crown but larger. Right Talon the eagle holds a scepter, the left power. On the eagle's breast an oval shield with the Moscow coat of arms: St. George on horseback slaying a serpentine dragon with wings. The shield surrounded by chain of Order of St. Andrew. In a circle the inscription (starting at the top) - "17  56 • МОН • ЦЕНА • ДВА • РУБЛИ •"(letters converted basis inside).
