Description of coin 5 kopecks 1757 (the emblem of Saint-Petersburg):

From 1758 it was planned to launch a massive national copper coinage of dimes, for whom a year earlier had developed a pattern. One option was an image of the monogram of Elizabeth on the obverse and the coat of arms of St. Petersburg on the reverse. The result was approved only the obverse and on the reverse put the double-headed eagle. The only surviving copy is kept in the Hermitage.

The obverse of the coin shows the monogram of Elizabeth I, represents the Union of the letters "Е"(Elizabeth) and Latin "P"(Petrovna), repeated in mirror image. The sides of the year, is divided into two parts - "17" and "57". At the top of the Imperial crown. Image is surrounded by two branches connected at the bottom with a bow.

The reverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of Saint-Petersburg: two crossed anchors in the middle of the scepter. In a semicircle at the bottom is a ribbon with a nominal value of "ПЯТЬ • КОПЕЕКЪ" The edges of the ribbon decorated in the form of scrolls.
