Description of coin Ruble 1883 "Coronation of Alexander III":

The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding around the circumference of the rim with inward-facing teeth.

The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Emperor Alexander III in profile, face to the right. In cutting the neck of the letter "ЛШ"- the initials of the engraver L. H. Steinman. The bottom horizontal inscription - "КОРОНОВАН ВЪ МОСКВЕ" below the date "1883". On a circle the inscription: "Б.М. АЛЕКСАНДРЪ III ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖ. ВСЕРОСС."

On the coin reverse in the centre is a symbol of Imperial power: the Imperial state crown, scepter and Orb, lying on the pillow. Upstairs semicircular inscription - "РУБЛЬ" on the sides of the Bay (left) and oak (right) branches connected at the bottom with tape.

Alexander III son of Alexander II came to the throne in March 1881 after the assassination of his father. The coronation took place only 15 (27 new style), may, 1883, by tradition, the event was held at the Cathedral square of the Moscow Kremlin. The Emperor and his wife went out of the faceted chamber, down through the Red gate and went to the Uspensky Cathedral, where the procedure of confirmation.
