The coin is yellow in color with a reddish tinge, is made of steel clad with red brass alloy (88-97% copper, the rest zinc). On the circumference there is a raised rim. The edge is smooth, without any drawings and incisions. Many of the coins on edge partially emerges steel base, this is the norm.
The obverse of the coin depicts St. George on horseback, slaying a serpent. This figure symbolizes the victory of Russian people over evil. Under the front hoof of the horse is a symbol of the mint, which minted the coin (S-N -
Saint-Petersburg). The bottom field of the coin around the circumference indicate the year of issue "2012" and above the inscription "БАНК РОССИИ" split the head of St. George into two parts.
On the reverse a large numeral "50" denotes the denomination of the coin (the figure slightly off-center to the right). Below the floor "КОПЕЕК" located at the center with respect to the figures "50". Bottom left relief depicts a floral ornament consisting of two intertwined branches. The ornament is a little on the right side.
