The obverse of the coin

depicts the sculpture "Motherland" on Piskarevsky cemetery in St. Petersburg. On a circle the inscription: top - "БИТВА ЗА ЛЕНИНГРАД" at the bottom in a smaller font - "ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 гг."(labels separated by five-pointed stars).
The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.

The battle for Leningrad is called a set of combat actions aimed at the removal of the blockade and supplies of food and ammunition residents caught up in the environment. Passed 10 Jul 1941-9 August 1944. The United fascist army surrounded the city on 8 September 1941 and kept it in the ring prior to the full lifting of the blockade on 27 January 1944, after which the siege was still going to fall. Most of the losses among the civilian population caused famine. The only connection of Leningrad with other regions remained the Neva river and Ladoga lake, which in winter on the ice, and in summer the water went the trains with food.
