The obverse of the coin

depicts the Monument to Soviet soldiers in Vienna (the soldier holding the flag and the coat of arms of the USSR), in the background the outlines of a modern city. At the top of a semicircle between two five-pointed stars and the inscription - "ВЕНА" beneath the image horizontally the date of the liberation of Budapest - "13 АПРЕЛЯ 1945 г."
The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.

The Vienna offensive was held from 16 March to 15 April 1945, in parallel with the battles in East Prussia. Western Hungary, remaining under the command of the Wehrmacht was on the side of Nazi Germany, they were opposed by the Soviet army and Bulgaria. The attack was from Czechoslovakia and previously freed Eastern Hungary and from Yugoslavia. During heavy fighting was completely liberated Austria (battle for the capital lasted 8 days). With the capture of Austria the path to Berlin was open.
