The obverse of the coin vividly depicts St. Basil's Cathedral (Pokrovsky Cathedral) in Moscow, right underneath the mark of the Leningrad mint (stylized letters "ЛМД" upstairs on the left the emblem of the Bank of Russia: double-headed eagle with drooping wings. To the left along the rim, a semicircular inscription "БАНК" also right along the rim "РОССИИ" In the lower part of the field of coins of the specified denomination in two lines - "1 РУБЛЬ" beneath finely, the year of coinage - "1992".
The reverse of the coin depicts a relief portrait of Yanka Kupala in the profile face to the left, underneath in script among stylized plant ornament inscription: "Yanka Kupala". On the right side in two lines, the years of the life of the poet: "1882 1942".
The obverse and reverse of the coin features the speaker on the circumference of the piping.

Ivan Dominikovich Lutsevich (1882-1942) is one of the greatest Belarusian poets of the twentieth century, better known under the pseudonym Yanka Kupala. Created several collections of poetry, wrote several poems and plays. His works are based on folk tales. The most famous was the drama "Dream on the mound", which tells about the difficult life in pre-revolutionary Belarus.
