The obverse of the coin
in the ring of dots depicts the emblem of the Bank of Russia (the eagle with drooping wings), under the right paw mark of the Moscow mint
(stylized letters "ММД". From the outside of the ring up in a semicircle along the rim the inscription: "ОДИН РУБЛЬ 1993 г." below "БАНК РОССИИ"(the inscriptions are separated by ornaments, consisting of rhombuses).The reverse of the coin
depicts a portrait of Alexander Borodin from the front face to the left. To the left of the portrait: the bottom of the candle in the candleholder at the top - the device for carrying out chemical experiments; on the right a stave with notes. Under the portrait is the inscription "А.П.БОРОДИН" below years of life: "1833-1887".
The obverse and reverse of the coin features the speaker on the circumference of the piping.

Borodin, Alexander Porfirievich (1833-1887) was both a distinguished composer and the greatest chemist. In St. Petersburg was part of the organization of composers called "the Mighty handful", wrote many works, laid the foundations of an epic Symphony. In 1858, he defended his doctoral thesis on the medical theme, and a year later conducted a detailed analysis of the mineral springs in the Kostroma province. In subsequent years, along with several other famous chemists were involved in creating theories of atoms and molecules.
