The obverse of the coin
in the ring of dots depicts the emblem of the Bank of Russia (the eagle with drooping wings), under the right paw mark of the Leningrad mint (stylized letters "ЛМД". From the outside of the ring up in a semicircle along the rim the inscription: "ОДИН РУБЛЬ 1993 г." below "БАНК РОССИИ"(the inscriptions are separated by ornaments, consisting of rhombuses).The reverse of the coin
depicts a relief portrait of G. R. Derzhavin full face (shoulders done contour). At the bottom are symbols of enlightenment: book, pipe and lyre over Laurel branches. To the right of the Lira in two lines shows the years of life: "1743 1816". Circumferentially along the rim the inscription: "ГАВРИИЛ РОМАНОВИЧ ДЕРЖАВИН"

Derzhavin Gavriil Romanovich (1743-1816) - Russian poet and politician of the second half of XVIII - early XIX century.
