in the ring of dots in relief is depicted the dome of the Senate building in the Moscow Kremlin and Spasskaya tower, right of the turret the mark of the Moscow mint
(stylized letters "ММД". The outside of the ring semi-circle along the rim inscriptions: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ 1993г." below - "БАНК РОССИИ"(the inscriptions are separated with a diamond-shaped ornament).The reverse of the coin
clearly shows the main sights of Kiev: in the foreground the statue of "the Motherland", at the rear the monuments of Vladimir Svyatoslavich, to Bogdan Khmelnitsky and St. Sophia Cathedral bell tower. Circumferentially along the rim the inscription: "50 ЛЕТ ОСВОБОЖДЕНИЯ КИЕВА ОТ ФАШИСТСКИХ ЗАХВАТЧИКОВ"

After the victory in the Caucasus and Kursk, German forces were forced to retreat in the direction of Ukraine, leaving behind destroyed cities and towns. Fighting on the banks of the Dnieper was held from 26 August to 23 December 1943, the length of the front line reached 750 miles. The result was liberated Kyiv (6 November) and almost the entire left Bank Ukraine. All the battle involved nearly 4 million soldiers and 80 thousand pieces of equipment. After the liberation of Kiev was a ruin, and the population has decreased in 6 times in comparison with the prewar figure.
