The aim of the Budapest operation, held from 29 October 1944 until 13 February 1945, was the withdrawal of Hungary from the war. Romania in this battle were on the side of the USSR, the troops of the Wehrmacht consisted of the army of the Third Reich and Hungary. Hungary was important not only Germany as an ally, but also as a major supplier of oil, of which produced fuel for vehicles. Despite heavy losses, the red army managed to liberate Budapest (including prisoners of concentration camps), was also created conditions for further expansion into the West.
