Embossing is produced on the workpiece consisting of two metals - and-white copper-Nickel ring, inside which copper-zinc disk. The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.
The obverse of the coin in the center is a depiction of the emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with drooping wings), still below the mark of the Leningrad mint (stylized letters "ЛМД". The white rim above the inscription: "50 РУБЛЕЙ 1993 г." below the inscription: "БАНК РОССИИ" The inscriptions are separated elements consisting of two intersecting rhombuses.
On the coin reverse in the center (yellow disk) the image of the black bear among vegetation, the top left branch of the tree. On a circle above the inscription - "КРАСНАЯ КНИГА" below - "ГИМАЛАЙСКИЙ МЕДВЕДЬ" Labels separated by dots.
Refers to a series of 15 bimetal coins dedicated to the animals of the red book.

The black bear differs from the brown is much smaller and dark (almost black) color with a pronounced bright spot on the breast, there are other, less visible signs. Distributed almost throughout China, Japan, Korea, partly in the middle East. In Russia is found only in the Primorye and Khabarovsk territories. Asiatic black bear is present on the coat of arms of Khabarovsk territory and Khabarovsk.
