The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was created simultaneously with the liquidation of the USSR on 8 December 1991 in the Bialowieza forest. The document was signed by leaders of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. 5 days later joined the CIS Central Asian republics, and then gradually the others (except the Baltic States). In 2009, Georgia left CIS, Ukraine in 2014 is not actually a member of the organization, although the official release did not occur.
