The obverse side of the coin in the center is the denomination of the coin in two lines «5 РУБЛЕЙ» below – the inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» beneath it the date "2016", left and right — a stylized twig of a plant, in the right part of the coin — the trademark of the mint.
On the reverse side of the coin in the center the relief image of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky in Moscow, there are inscriptions: at the top of the circle «ОСНОВАНО В 1866 г.» the bottom three rows «РОССИЙСКОЕ ИСТОРИЧЕСКОЕ ОБЩЕСТВО»

The coin was released on December 26, 2016.
In 1866 in Saint-Petersburg was founded Russian historical society, initially part of the Ministry of education. The main objective was to gather historical information about Russia and spread them among the population. At that time, the interest in the story only began to emerge from major scientific works existed only "history of the Russian state" N. M. Karamzin, the growth of national consciousness pushed for deeper study. First President of the society was the P. A. Vyazemsky, a famous Russian poet, historian, close friend of Pushkin. At the turn of XIX-XX centuries, the society was organized a scientific expedition around the world (mainly Central Asia and the far East) that resulted in priceless finds stored in museums.
