in the center of the coin disk of the coin is a waist - length portrait of a man in armor, holding in his left hand axe - an ancient weapon, to the right - the inscription in two lines, "Prince Rurik", on the wide strip of formed edge and a concentric circular line of the inscription, running from left down to right: "1150-ЛЕТИЕ ЗАРОЖДЕНИЯ РОССИЙСКОЙ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННОСТИ" at the top of the strip - pattern of winding lines.
On the obverse and reverse sides of the coins along the circumference there is a raised rim.
