Coin sample 1961 are minted from a copper-zinc alloy, has no ferromagnetic properties. The weight of the coin (5 gram) corresponds to face value. The herd consists of many notches.
The obverse shows the large coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956 with fifteen turns of the tied ears of tapes (the number of republics of the Soviet Union). The coat of arms is simplified and has no text on the ribbon. Under the emblem there is a horizontal inscription "СССР" The mint mark is missing.
On the reverse at the top in the middle there is a large numeral "5" indicating the denomination of the coin, below it is the horizontal word "КОПЕЕК" centered on figures. Horizontally below the year of issue "1979". In the lower and lateral part of the coin depicts a stylized semicircle, a wreath composed of two ears of wheat (above) and oak leaves (below), place a sling of two branches of a shell.
The circumference of the front and reverse sides of the coin there is a raised rim.
The kind is determined by the details from the obverse.
