The coin is issued for the Summer Olympic games in Moscow in 1980. Total circulation - 345123 PCs (118453 quality brilliant uncirculated, the rest Uncirculated). Coinage was only produced at the Leningrad mint.
The obverse of the coin is divided into two parts (upper approximately in 2 times more low). Each piece is framed with a solid line. In the upper part of the emblem of the USSR of the sample of 1956 with 15 bands of the tape (number of republics). The coat of arms is simplified and has no inscriptions on the ribbon. Left and right of the emblem there is an inscription "СССР" divided into two parts ("СС"and "СР". The letters are arranged in a semicircle, skirting the crest. At the bottom of the obverse in the middle is the denomination - a large number "10" under it, in smaller font the word "РУБЛЕЙ"
In the foreground of the reverse shows a cyclist in front of him - the emblem of Olympiad-80. In the background at the top of an indoor cycle track. the high jumper, under it - the stadium, above it - the building of Moscow state University (right) and the emblem of the Olympics-80 (left). At the top along the edge to stretch in a semicircle the inscription: "ИГРЫ XXII ОЛИМПИАДЫ""МОСКВА"and "1980", separated by dots. Below the double horizontal line at the right label mint (LMD - Leningrad). In the middle stands a year issue coins "1978".
On the front and back parts of the coin along the circumference has a raised rim.
