The coin is issued for the Summer Olympic games in Moscow in 1980. Total circulation - 221640 PCs (of which 95 420 in Proof quality, the rest Uncirculated).
The obverse of the coin is divided into two parts (upper approximately in 2 times more low). Each piece is framed with a solid line. In the upper part of the emblem of the USSR of the sample of 1956 with 15 bands of the tape (number of republics). The coat of arms is simplified and has no inscriptions on the ribbon. Left and right of the emblem there is an inscription "СССР" divided into two parts ("СС"and "СР". The letters are arranged in a semicircle, skirting the crest. At the bottom of the obverse in the middle is the denomination - a large number "10" underneath in smaller font the word "РУБЛЕЙ"
The reverse features a competition in tug of war (participate with 4 people each side). Above is the emblem of the Olympics-80. In the lower part of the field of coins of the Russian national pattern, underneath to the left is the mint mark (LMD - Leningrad). At the top along the rim, a semicircular inscription stretches "ИГРЫ XXII ОЛИМПИАДЫ" below along the rim inscriptions: "МОСКВА"and "1980", separated by dots. In the lower part of the field of the coin in the middle near Kant indicated the year of coinage - "1980".
On the front and back parts of the coin along the circumference has a raised rim.
Tug of war - Russian national sport. The competition involves two teams consisting of any number of participants. The goal is to pull the rope to their side of the field. Earlier, the tug of war was included in the programme of the Olympic games.
