The obverse of the coin is divided into two parts (upper approximately in 2 times more low). Each piece is framed with a solid line. In the upper part of the emblem of the USSR of the sample of 1956 with 15 bands of the tape (number of republics). The coat of arms is simplified and has no inscriptions on the ribbon. Left and right of the emblem there is an inscription "СССР" divided into two parts ("СС"and "СР". The letters are arranged in a semicircle, skirting the crest. At the bottom of the obverse in the middle is the denomination - a large numeral "5" under it, in smaller font the word "РУБЛЕЙ"
In the foreground of the reverse depicts an athlete, pulls the bowstring from the bow, the belt hanging from her arrows. In the background are the stands above them on the left is the emblem of the Olympics-80. On the right bottom, above the base, on which stands the Archer, is the sign of the mint (MMD - Moscow
). At the top along the rim, a semicircular inscription stretches "ИГРЫ XXII ОЛИМПИАДЫ" below along the rim inscriptions: "МОСКВА"and "1980", separated by dots. In the lower part of the field of the coin in the middle near Kant indicated the year of coinage - "1980".
On the front and back parts of the coin along the circumference has a raised rim.
