The obverse of the coin
in the upper part of the disc - the coat of arms of the Soviet Union with fifteen turns of the tape, under it is a horizontal line with a thickening in the middle. At the sides the inscription "СССР" divided into two parts. Below the line is an inscription in two lines - "ОДИН РУБЛЬ"(the word "РУБЛЬ"adjacent to the rim of the coin), along the rim - the rim of raised dots.On the coin reverse
in the centre of the disc relief image of the monument to the Soviet soldier with a rescued German girl in his arms (the monument is located in Treptow Park in Berlin). To the left of the soldier - the letters "XX" the right word "ЛЕТ"(means "20 years of Victory") at the top along the circumference of the rim - inscription "ПОБЕДА НАД ФАШИСТСКОЙ ГЕРМАНИЕЙ"

The monument "Warrior-liberator" was created in 1949 by the Soviet sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich commemorating the victory over fascism. The sculpture depicts a Soviet soldier holding a rescued German girl in one hand and a huge sword in the other. Considered one of the symbols of Victory. The monument is located in Treptow Park in Berlin, a part of the memorial complex.
