The obverse of the coin
box is divided into two parts, each banded by a thin line. In the upper (larger) part of the coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956: the hammer and sickle on a globe, beneath the rising sun, at the top a five-pointed star; the sides of the ears of corn, tied with fifteen turns of the tape, the lower stage is much wider, symbolizes the RSFSR (the rest of the coils - the other republics). At the side of the emblem the inscription "СССР" divided into two parts (the first and last letters are raised). in the foreground a hand holding a torch with the Olympic flame. In the background: left - the relief image of the Moscow Kremlin, beneath the emblem of the XXII Summer Olympic games 1980 in Moscow (the five rings, linked together, and the soaring lines, symbolizing the athletic track, with a star on top) (the top part of the logo superimposed on the basis of the Spasskaya tower of the Kremlin), on the right - the relief image of the main sights of Moscow (Ostankino television center and the television tower, the Spasskaya tower of the Kremlin, as well as high-rise buildings on Novy Arbat street), the bottom three are nested within each of the ovals symbolizing the treadmill right under them in small print the date of issue of the coin - "1980". XXII Summer Olympic games 1980 held in Moscow from 19 July to 3 August. From the struggle with the socialist regime, many Western countries have declared a boycott of the games, so among the participating countries were mainly state controlled by the Soviet Union. Athletes of the USSR won an exceptional victory, far ahead of competitors. Some characters of these games have been borrowed for the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014.
