The obverse of the coin in the upper part of the disc - the coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956: the hammer and sickle on a globe, beneath the rising sun, at the top a five-pointed star; the sides of the ears of corn, tied with fifteen turns of the tape, the lower stage is much wider, symbolizes the RSFSR (the rest of the coils - the other republics). Under the coat of arms, nominal value: a large stylized number "1" under which the horizontal is the word "РУБЛЬ" even lower small digits indicate the year of minting - "1985". On either side of the emblem the inscription "СССР" divided into two parts.
The reverse features the relief image of a portrait of Lenin (palapas, rotated to the left), below along the rim, a semicircular inscription - "В.И. ЛЕНИН" the left, in two lines, the years of the life of Vladimir Lenin - "1870" and "1924".

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin - the organizer of the October 1917 Revolution, the first head of the RSFSR and later the USSR. He was born in 1870 in Simbirsk (now Ulyanovsk). Real name was Ulyanov, alias Lenin took on the name of the river Lena, near which was exiled. His ideas were based on the works of Karl Marx and other Communists.
