The obverse of the coin in the upper part of the disc - the coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956: the hammer and sickle on a globe, beneath the rising sun, at the top a five-pointed star; the sides of the ears of corn, tied with fifteen turns of the tape, the lower stage is much wider, symbolizes the RSFSR (the rest of the coils - the other republics). Under the arms the full width of the coin there is an inscription "СССР" below is the value: a large stylized number "1" under which a semicircle along the edge to the floor "РУБЛЬ" even the small numbers below the year of issue "1991".
The reverse of the coin depicts a relief portrait of Alisher Navoi in profile, face to the left. Right at the bottom there is an inscription in two lines: "Alisher Navoi", executed in stylized font. To the left along the rim in a semicircle in the same font from the bottom up shows the years of life: "1441-1501".
The obverse and reverse of the coin features the speaker on the circumference of the piping.

Alisher Navoi (1441-1501) lived in Central Asia during the Timurid on the territory of modern North-Eastern Iran. Was a poet, philosopher and statesman. Preached ascetic type of life, the rejection of the frills. In Soviet times it was considered the Uzbek poet, but the exact nationality is not established. Wrote in Chagatai language of Navoi, under the pseudonym (meaning "melodious").
