The obverse of the coin in the upper part of the disc - the coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956: the hammer and sickle on a globe, beneath the rising sun, at the top a five-pointed star; the sides of the ears of corn, tied with fifteen turns of the tape, the lower stage is much wider, symbolizes the RSFSR (the rest of the coils - the other republics). Under the arms the full width of the coin there is an inscription "СССР" below is the value: a large stylized number "3" under which a semicircle along the edge to the floor "РУБЛЯ" even below, in smaller numbers, the year of issue "1987".
The reverse of the coin vividly depicts the peasant, worker and soldier with arms in his hands, above is a date in large print - "1917". At the top of the edging has a semicircular inscription - "СЕМЬДЕСЯТ ЛЕТ ВЕЛИКОЙ ОКТЯБРЬСКОЙ СОЦИАЛИСТИЧЕСКОЙ РЕВОЛЮЦИИ"

This is the first in Soviet history coin 3 ruble, had mass check (previously there were only trial versions).
The October revolution happened on 7 November (25 October old style), at the same time was formed the RSFSR. In the course of the revolutionary actions in Petrograd overthrew the Provisional government and established Soviet power. The military revolutionary Committee that planned the revolt, was led by Lenin, who then became the first Secretary of the new state. Revolution was the result of years of training (since the second half of the XIX century), to carry out a coup failed because of the weakness of the authorities.
