Description of coin 5 rubles 1987 "70 years of the great October Socialist revolution " ("puck"):

The obverse of the coin in the upper part of the disc - the coat of arms of the USSR of the sample of 1956: the hammer and sickle on a globe, beneath the rising sun, at the top a five-pointed star; the sides of the ears of corn, tied with fifteen turns of the tape, the lower stage is much wider, symbolizes the RSFSR (the rest of the coils - the other republics). Under the arms the full width of the coin there is an inscription "СССР" below is the value: a large stylized number "5" under which a semicircle along the edge to the floor "РУБЛЕЙ" even below, in smaller numbers, the year of issue "1987".

The reverse of the coin in the upper part depicts a stylized flag on the right side which has the date "1917". On top of the flag depicts a portrait of Vladimir Lenin facing left. At the bottom of the coin there is an inscription of five lines: "70 ЛЕТ ВЕЛИКОЙ ОКТЯБРЬСКОЙ СОЦИАЛИСТИЧЕСКОЙ РЕВОЛЮЦИИ" bottom right in the background a Laurel branch (symbol of victory).

The obverse and reverse of the coin features the speaker on the circumference of the piping.

This is the first in Soviet history coin 5 rubles, who had a massive axe (previously there were only trial versions). Among the commemorative coins of the USSR is the largest, for what it called the "puck".


The October revolution happened on 7 November (25 October old style), at the same time was formed the RSFSR. In the course of the revolutionary actions in Petrograd overthrew the Provisional government and established Soviet power. The military revolutionary Committee that planned the revolt, was led by Lenin, who then became the first Secretary of the new state. Revolution was the result of years of training (since the second half of the XIX century), to carry out a coup failed because of the weakness of the authorities.
