The obverse of the coin

The bronze horseman is the famous statue of Saint-Petersburg, depicts Peter the great on horseback, mounted on a huge monolith ("Thunder-stone"), found in the vicinity of the city. The sculpture is made of bronze, in the years 1768-1770 Etienne Falconet. The installation of the monument continued until 1782, after which he was ceremonially opened with the participation of Catherine II.
